17th China Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair

Exerting every efforts, Turkish Machinery Promotion Group continues to inform world markets so as to support export-based development of Turkish Machinery Sector which aims at advanced technology and highest quality products. In this context, with 36 m2 info-stand, the Group participated for the first time in 17th China Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair which hosts broadest professional visitors range in the West and Central Asian region, due to interest drawn from foreign investors and domestic buyers. 

In this important event held between September 1-5, 2008, at the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Group welcomed visitors at hall 203, stand no 9-10 and handed out promotion materials (brochures, catalogues, CD, DVD etc.) obtained from members of  Central Anatolian Machinery and Accessories Exporters’ Union. Throughout the fair, presentation video played in the stand and visitors were offered coffee, tea, Turkish delight, pistachio. Visitors deeply interested in Turkish machinery were given detailed information and promotion materials in addition to exporters database CD which includes contact information of all machinery and accessories exporters.

A trade mission, headed by minister of state Kürşad TÜZMEN, took place concurrently with the exhibition. Local and international press agencies interested intensely in Turkish Commodity Fair were informed about Turkish Machinery Sector and cooperation chances between Turkey and Region by emphasizing the long historical and live cultural ties.         

The Fair received visitors from neighbouring countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan,  Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, India. Considering share of machinery in economical composition of Region and demands from professional visitors, highly possible cooperation opportunities in construction and mining, food processing, agricultural machineries, specific textile machineries, plastic processing machineries and automotive sub-industry has been observed.  

Having vast natural resources and being neighbour of developing countries, Xinjiang has an important strategic geographical position. Economical composition dominated by agricultural production for the past terms is transforming into a new shape to include more from industrial production, construction and services sectors. Xinjiang  has reached 45 billion $ GDP and passed 2.000 $ per capita. For the last 7 years up to 2007, trade volume has surged from 1,7 billion $ to 14 billion $.

China and Turkey are friendly countries sharing a long history of civilization and have cooperated on international and regional affairs for many decades, while the scope of economic and trade cooperation is expanding and the bilateral trade volume is increasing rapidly. In 2007, trade volume between Turkey and Xinjiang has reached to 15 million $ for the first time. Xinjiang is a potential market for not only its blooming economy, natural resources and domestic demand, but also for its developing neighbouring countries.
